I’ve fallen in love with Japanese sake. And wine too!
I recently had the pleasure of purchasing a white wine from Domaine Beau, a winery in Toyama Prefecture.
Actually, I love all kinds of alcohol, not just sake, and I always drink a bottle or two of wine a month.
Especially recently, I’ve been amazed by the high quality of Japanese wines, and I’m increasingly eager to visit wineries in various regions.

When poured into a glass, the gorgeous aroma of Chardonnay wafts out.
When I took a sip, the acidity stood out more than I had expected.
It has a smooth, easy-to-drink taste, and it’s the kind of wine that makes you want to keep pouring another glass.
Shiraz from South Australia
On this day, a couple of friends came to visit, so we enjoyed it together.
My friend brought a Shiraz from South Australia, Australia.
This one also had a firm taste and was very delicious.
If I had to choose, I might have preferred this Shiraz.
The dishes I paired with the wine
The dishes I paired with the wine were like this:

- Marinated sardines
- Olives
- Levain crackers with cream cheese and cod roe dip
- Tomato stew with pork ribs
Since it was a white wine, it went well with the seafood marinade and light appetizers.
The tomato stew with pork ribs is usually paired with red wine, but it was surprisingly a great match with this white wine as well.
Delicious wine and enjoyable conversation.
It was truly a blissful experience.

I was reminded of a poem from Nogizaka46’s poetry collection “Dawn’s Morality.”
In our hectic daily lives, taking the time to slowly enjoy wine like this is truly precious.
I’m writing a blog with the title “Enjoying Japanese Sake Time that Colors Everyday Life,” but I realized once again that wine is also a wonderful presence that colors my days.
From now on, I would like to share various alcoholic beverages, including wine, not just Japanese sake.
