Have you ever heard of the drama Izakaya Shinkansen?
This drama stars actor Hidekazu Majima, who plays a protagonist that purchases exquisite sake while on business trips and enjoys a fulfilling izakaya (Japanese pub) experience aboard the Shinkansen. The relaxing moments spent with a cup of sake in hand are truly irresistible for any sake lover.
After watching this drama, I couldn’t help but think, I want to enjoy sake on the Shinkansen after a business trip! So, on my way back from a trip to Nagoya, I finally made that dream come true.
A Toast on the Shinkansen Back from Nagoya!
At Takashimaya in Nagoya Station, I carefully selected Michisakari Junmai Daiginjo. This sake is crisp and dry yet offers a wonderfully fragrant aroma. When I asked the store staff if they could provide a small cup for drinking sake, they kindly offered one without hesitation.
A Special Moment Enjoyed on the Shinkansen
Even while working on my laptop, I savored the sake’s clear and refined taste. By the time we passed Shizuoka, the breathtaking sight of Mount Fuji appeared through the window, making it the perfect setting for a truly exceptional sip of sake.

Discovering the Joy of Sake While Traveling
Sake has the power to enhance travel memories. Enjoying it aboard the Shinkansen feels like having your very own personal izakaya on the move. I’ve decided that for my next business trip, I will once again enjoy a delightful sake experience on the train.
Why not pick up a local sake on your travels and enjoy it while watching the scenery from the Shinkansen?
