The unforgettable bottle that led me into the depths of sake: “Ginban Junmai Daiginjo Banshu 50”

Sake Brands

I’m super excited to share a special sake that totally changed my view on Japanese rice wine. It’s called “Ginban 50” from Ginban Shuzo brewery in Toyama.

My friend brought some “Ginban” over the other day, and it brought back some awesome memories. Let me tell you about it!

Ginban Shuzo: Where Nature and Passion Meet

Ginban Shuzo is located in Kurobe, Toyama, with stunning views of the Northern Alps. They’ve been around since 1910, starting in a village called Ogiu, which has a legend about sake springing from the ground.

  • They use amazing water from the Kurobe River, which is so pure and full of minerals – it’s won awards for being one of the best waters in Japan!
  • They’re super picky about their rice, especially using the “king of sake rice,” Yamada Nishiki.
  • Ginban Shuzo really focuses on the ingredients, and they’ve got this cool mix of traditional methods and modern tech to make top-notch sake.

My “Ginban 50” Moment

Before trying “Ginban 50,” I wasn’t really into sake. I was more of a beer, cocktail, or wine kind of person.

Then, my college senior, who was a big foodie, recommended “Ginban 50 Junmai Daiginjo” at a restaurant.

I didn’t expect much, but wow, it totally changed my mind!

It was so clean and refreshing, with a fruity aroma that was nothing like I expected from rice wine. It was like biting into a fresh fruit!

I was like, “Wait, this is sake?” I was so surprised!

About “Ginban 50 Junmai Daiginjo Banshu 50”

They polish the best Yamada Nishiki rice down to 50% and age it at a low temperature, which gives it a smooth, mellow flavor. It’s a long-time favorite because it’s high quality and easy to enjoy.味わいの特徴
