Unexpectedly Opened! Enjoying “Izakaya Shinkansen” on the Way to Nagoya with My Secret Weapon for Travel, plastic bottle Sake🍶✨

The spice of life

Hi everyone! It’s Blogger Eye from “Sake Days: A Blog to Enjoy Japanese Sake Moments that Color Everyday Life.”

Recently, I was swamped with work at the end of the fiscal year, but I managed to finish up in Tokyo and head to Nagoya for a business trip in the evening! 🚄

Usually, my “Izakaya Shinkansen” involves enjoying sake with a bento box and snacks on the bullet train back from Nagoya…

But then it hit me! “Wait a minute, does this mean I can open up ‘Izakaya Shinkansen’ on the way to Nagoya today?!”

Lightbulb moment! 💡✨ I’m pretty proud of my quick thinking in these situations! (lol)

So, I immediately headed to “Hasegawa,” a sake specialty store inside the Tokyo Station gates in Gransta! 🍶

I spent a happy few minutes Browse the rows of sake, wondering whether to go for a standard 720ml bottle or a smaller 300ml one… and of course, which brand to choose.

That’s when my eyes landed on something a little unusual – sake in a plastic bottle! 👀✨ It was 720ml, the same as a regular bottle.

Among a few brands like “Kifu” and “Suigei,” I decided on “Raifuku Junmai Ginjo” from Ibaraki Prefecture! The label design also had a modern and cute vibe to it 🌸.

There are several advantages to pet bottle sake, but the biggest one has to be that it’s so much lighter than a glass bottle! This makes it absolutely perfect for “Izakaya Shinkansen” when you’re carrying other things like lunch and souvenirs! 😊

I even got a cup for drinking on the train from the store, so I was all set! Next stop: Nagoya!

Once the Nozomi bullet train departed from Tokyo Station right on schedule, it was time for a “Kanpai!” (Cheers!) and the grand opening of my solo “Izakaya Shinkansen”! 🥂

My first sip… a gentle, round mouthfeel and a bright, blossoming ginjo aroma that just melted away the fatigue from my busy day… Ah, pure bliss 😌💕.

I decided to skip the snacks this time. I just enjoyed the “scenery” of the passing landscape at high speed as my “appetizer” and savored the “Raifuku Junmai Ginjo” for the entire hour and forty-minute ride. Watching the scenery while slowly sipping delicious sake was truly a luxurious experience. The time flew by!

Everyone, if you ever have the chance to travel by Shinkansen, definitely try bringing your favorite sake along and enjoying your own “Izakaya Shinkansen” experience! I bet your travel time will transform into a special “Sake Days” moment! ✨
