Osaka Night Views & Whisky: Awesome Reunion After 6 Years!

The spice of life

Hey everyone! It’s Ai from Sake Days. You know I’m usually all about exploring the world of yummy sake, but today I wanna tell you about a really great night I had on a little side trip in Osaka.

Osaka Trip! So Excited to See My Friend

So, I had to go to Osaka for a big work presentation recently. I was pretty nervous beforehand, but thinking about the fun stuff afterwards totally got me through it! I mean, it’s Osaka! Gotta enjoy some good drinks and have a good time, right?

And the best part? A good friend I’d been wanting to see forever lives there. Get this – we hadn’t seen each other in six years! Mostly because of the pandemic and all, way too long. Just thinking about finally seeing her again got me super excited!

It’s pretty special to have a friend you can just text “Hey, how’ve you been? Let’s hang out!” even after six years apart. We actually met through a hobby way back, and it’s kind of amazing and lucky that we’ve kept in touch through social media and stuff, even living far apart. She’s a bit older than me, and someone I really look up to. We just click, you know? Similar vibes.

And we both love our drinks! So, I thought, “Since I’m going to Osaka, I know this great place we should go!” and suggested “Whisky Dining WWW.W (Four W’s)” at Grand Front Osaka.

I finished my presentation (nailed it!), felt super relieved, and headed straight for Osaka Station! Totally gave myself a mental high-five, like, “Yes! Worked hard for this!” Haha.

Checking Out This Cool Spot: Grand Front Osaka’s “WWW.W”

Walking into this place is like stepping into another world! They’ve got whisky barrels everywhere right at the entrance, makes you feel like you’re in a real distillery. It was actually my third time there, but I still get that excited buzz every time.

The bar near the entrance looks awesome, with all the whisky bottles lit up and glowing this beautiful amber color. Just looking at them is nice…

My friend booked us the perfect seats right by the window. The view of Osaka at night twinkling below us was just incredible, seriously romantic!

Trying This Awesome Gin: ROKU Sakura Bloom Edition!

Alright, first drink time. I’ve been getting into gin lately… and I saw they had the “Suntory ROKU GIN Sakura Bloom Edition” on the menu! ROKU has that cool bottle, looks kinda fancy, right? I’d tried their “Sui” gin before, but never ROKU.

Decided to just go for it and ordered a gin and tonic. And whoa… it was way better than I even expected! When you bring the glass up, you get this lovely soft smell of cherry blossoms. The taste was super refreshing, kind of flowery, like spring in a glass. It’s cool how with gin, since it’s not aged in barrels like whisky, you can really taste the plant flavors directly. That was a real eye-opener! I liked it so much, I actually got a second one, which is rare for me!

World Whiskies and Osaka Bites: A Super Tasty Combo

For food, since we were in Osaka, we picked stuff with local ingredients. The “Tango Chicken Karaage” (fried chicken) was perfectly crispy outside and unbelievably juicy inside! So much flavor. We also had a dish with fresh “Sawara” (Spanish Mackerel) – you could really taste how fresh it was, super delicate.

And obviously, at a place called “Whisky Dining,” we had to get some whisky! We went for the “World Whisky 5-Variety Tasting Set.” Getting to try little bits of different whiskies from different countries side-by-side? Just awesome.

We also got the “8-Kind Assorted Appetizer Plate” to go with it. It looked so pretty and colorful! And with 8 different little things (even more than the whiskies!), it was fun deciding what to try first.

All the whiskies were good and had their own thing going on, but the one that really stood out was the Irish “Connemara.” Usually, I think of Irish whiskey as really smooth and easy-drinking, but this Connemara had a definite smoky peat smell and taste! It was a nice surprise – finding stuff like that is why tastings are so fun.

Of course, they had Japan’s famous “Hibiki” blend too. That smell – so rich and flowery – and the complex taste… it’s just something else. Every sip just made me feel really happy.

Felt Like No Time Passed: Catching Up with My Friend

Chatting with my friend felt so easy and natural, even after six years. It was like no time had passed at all. She’s a bit older and I always learn a lot from her, she’s really inspiring. We talked non-stop about everything – what we’ve been up to, movies we’d seen, old hobby stuff. Time just flew by; I seriously didn’t want the night to end.

An Osaka Night to Remember: Good Drinks & Good Company

That sparkling view, the amazing drinks and food, and just warm, comfortable conversation with a friend I really trust. It was truly an unforgettable, perfect night in Osaka.

I mostly stick to my beloved sake, but trying different kinds of drinks now and then is a great reminder that there’s always something new and exciting to discover. And it hit me again how drinks, no matter what kind, just have this amazing way of making time spent with people you care about even better and more special.

Maybe you should grab your favorite drink and hang out with someone important soon? It’ll probably make your day even better!
