The other day, I participated in the “Connecting with Alcohol! Chichibu Whiskey Experience Workcation,” which I had been curious about after seeing it on social media. It was an incredibly affordable and fun event that was irresistible for any alcohol lover, so I’d like to share my experience!

Why I Was Drawn to This Event
The highlight of this event was, without a doubt, the Ichiro’s Malt whiskey seminar! As someone who has been fascinated by the profound world of Ichiro’s Malt for some time, this was an opportunity I couldn’t miss.
Moreover, the participation fee was an unbelievably low price of 7,000 yen. Can you believe it? It included the round-trip express train fare, shared office usage fee, social gathering, day-trip hot spring ticket, accommodation fee, and even the whiskey seminar!
I had no choice but to participate!
Off to Chichibu, Saitama!
Swaying on a train line I don’t usually take, I headed towards Seibu-Chichibu Station. Even transferring at Higashi-Hanno Station felt refreshing.
Workcation: Doing “Some” Work
The purpose of this trip was, after all, a workcation, so I did my work (or at least, some of it!) properly in the morning!
I finished my work quickly in the stylish shared office and decided to explore the town of Chichibu in the afternoon.
Blissful Afternoon: Toasting with Craft Beer!
Seeking out delicious craft beer, I visited “Mahoro Bar.” I brazenly enjoyed the “Chichibu Beer 5-Type Set” from the afternoon.
After all, I couldn’t pass up such a luxurious time, could I?
Among them, the Taru-Kuma (Barrel Bear) was exceptional. The barrel’s matured flavor and aroma were a perfect match, a truly blissful experience.
Receiving Blessings at Chichibu Shrine
Slightly tipsy, I went to Chichibu Shrine. Since I came all the way to Chichibu, I had to pay my respects!
The Social Gathering: A Festival of Chichibu’s Spirits and Liquer!
In the evening was the long-awaited social gathering! A variety of Chichibu’s prized beverages were lined up, including Gensaku-Jirushi Wine, Chichibu Nishiki sake, and Buko Masamune.
Of course, I didn’t forget to fully enjoy Ichiro’s Malt as well.
Everyone participating loved alcohol, so the conversation never stopped, it was a fantastic time! We even went out for a second round.
Accommodation Was Also Impeccable
This was the accommodation. It was perfectly comfortable for just sleeping.
Refreshing Morning Stroll
The next morning, I woke up early and took a walk to Chichibu Muse Park. Even the 13km round trip was a breeze in the refreshing air.
The Main Event: Ichiro’s Malt Whiskey Seminar
And then, the main event of this workcation, the Ichiro’s Malt Whiskey Seminar.
I tasted five types of rare and precious single cask original sake, which are not usually available to drink.
The seminar content was quite specialized and very informative.
In Conclusion
This Chichibu workcation was truly amazing! Encounters with delicious alcohol and wonderful companions.
Next time, I strongly hope for an event that includes a tour of the Venture Whiskey (Ichiro’s Malt) distillery!
If that happens, I’ll sign up immediately!
