That’s what I’ve been feeling more and more lately.
Among them, this “Chichibu Nishiki Kamekuchi Sake Special Honjozo Shiboritake Muroka Nama Genshu” is like opening a new door to the world of sake, a truly impactful encounter.
What exactly is Kamekuchi Sake?
“Kamekuchi Sake” refers to the sake that comes out first when squeezing the moromi (fermenting mash).
It’s the freshest and most vibrant sake that only the brewers could taste!
Usually, sake goes through processes like filtration and pasteurization before being shipped, but this “Chichibu Nishiki Kamekuchi Sake” is bottled without any treatment.
In other words, it’s an incredibly special sake where the original flavor and aroma of the sake are trapped inside!
My Encounter
“20% Alcohol Content”
With a rather high alcohol content for sake, I was a little wary at first.
But the moment I took a sip, those concerns flew away.
The smooth sweetness spreading in my mouth.
The refreshing fruity aroma, like apples.
A mysterious sensation that doesn’t make you feel the high alcohol content.
Rather, this powerful individuality captivated me.
Honjozo, yet this quality!?
And what surprised me even more was that this is a Honjozo sake, not a Ginjo sake.
“Honjozo” generally has a clean and crisp image, but this “Chichibu Nishiki Kamekuchi Sake” exudes an overwhelming presence that far exceeds such a framework.
Pairing with Oysters
The brewery’s Toji (master brewer) recommends pairing it with oysters or ponzu-dressed shirako (cod milt).
The combination of oysters and sake is, needless to say, the best, isn’t it!
With the powerful flavor of this sake, it shouldn’t lose to the rich umami of oysters.
Just imagining it makes my mouth water.
Attractive Price
And finally, what I can’t forget to mention is the price.
At 1227 yen for 720ml, it’s an unbelievably reasonable price.
I’m truly happy to be able to enjoy this quality of sake at this price.
