The other day, a group of sake enthusiasts gathered at “Torarenbo” in Akihabara for a sake party!
The members of this group were a diverse bunch. Some were loosely connected through work but meeting for only the second time, others were close friends who had just seen a movie together a week prior, and there were even some who were reuniting after two years.
The one thing we all had in common was our love for sake!
“With this group, it’s sure to be a fun sake gathering!”
With that conviction, I took on the role of organizer.
Excellent Access! 20 Types of All-You-Can-Drink Sake! – Torarenbo Akihabara
The restaurant I chose was “Torarenbo Akihabara,” which is conveniently located just a 1-minute walk from Akihabara Station.
The biggest reason I chose this place was that it offers 20 different types of all-you-can-drink sake.
The selection mainly featured sake from Eastern Japan, with many “honjozo” and “junmai” varieties. But considering it was all-you-can-drink, it was a more than satisfactory lineup.
(If I had to make one suggestion, I would have been happier with a bit more variety in the “junmai ginjo” category…)

Savoring the Season with Your Eyes and Tongue – An 8-Course Meal
For the food, I selected an 8-course meal that was full of winter flavors that would pair perfectly with sake.

Appetizer: Steamed egg custard with scallops and shrimp, monkfish liver “furofuki” daikon radish

Deep-fried cod and root vegetables with yuzu fragrance, served with cod milt sauce

Seared amberjack with sudachi citrus
The most impressive dish was the seared amberjack with sudachi citrus.
The delicious flavor of the fresh amberjack and the refreshing aroma of the sudachi citrus matched exquisitely, and it was a perfect complement to the sake.
One Delicious Bottle – Gakki Masamune Honjozo Nakatori Amakuchi (Sweet)
With 20 different types of sake, it’s a tough task to try them all.
As expected, we weren’t able to drink every single one. But among them, the one that left the strongest impression was “Gakki Masamune Honjozo Nakatori Amakuchi (Sweet).”

I usually prefer sweet sake, so this one was easy to drink and had a gentle, pleasant sweetness.
(To be honest, I got a little tipsy, so I don’t remember the taste of the other sake very well…)
Wonderful Connections Made Through Sake – The Best Night Ever
This sake gathering was truly a fantastic and enjoyable time!
There were many people who were meeting each other for the first time, but thanks to our shared interest in “sake,” we quickly hit it off and had a great time.

I don’t usually go to a second party, but on this day, I unusually suggested, “Let’s go to a second party!” That’s how much fun I was having.
I’m truly grateful for the new encounters and wonderful connections that were made through sake.
This gathering was a special memory for me, the best night ever.
Let me know if you’d like any adjustments or further assistance!
